Royal Wedding Fever!

Hello guys,

Another working week done and dusted again. If you're anything like me then you will be glued to your television screens tomorrow afternoon, when Suits star Meghan Markle will marry Prince Harry. It promises to be a huge occasion and I just cannot wait to see her dress. They seem like a genuinely lovely couple and I would just love to go for a drink with them. I suppose that will never happen though!! Oh well!

I actually remember being on my nursing internship in 2011 when Kate married Prince William and watching it in the staff room on my lunch break. It was such a fantastic occasion and those two have really changed the nature of The Royal Family.

Tomorrow however, I'll be in the comfort of my own home. I'll have the coverage on early and might even have a little party to celebrate - some goodies and some wine! Naturally, there is huge speculation over Meghan's dress. No doubt it will be just as fabulous as she is and it will be a day for all of us to remember.

Here are some of The Royals on their wedding day. As you can see, royal style has evolved drastically throughout the years.

Queen Elizabeth

Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the sunshine.

The Importance of Self Care

Source

Hello all,

It's been a few weeks since I've written anything so I'm back with a bang this week. I've been thinking a lot about self care these past few weeks and the importance of it. Life is busy. There are stresses and strains every day of the week - work, relationships, financial strain etc. What matters most is that you look after you first because if you don't you really are not much use to anyone else.
So, what is self care? It's not about being selfish or self obsessed, it's actually one of the most selfless things you can do. It really is exactly what it says on the tin. It's looking after yourself and there are many ways you can do it.

The following are a few of the ways I try to practice self care in this busy life.

1. Self Compassion: Would you talk to somebody else the way you talk to yourself? Probably not! Give yourself a break. Everyone makes mistakes. Accept it, let it go and forgive yourself.

2. Talk It Out: They say a problem shared is a problem halved and I really agree with this. Lighten your load and talk to a friend or partner. They may add clarity to the situation you find yourself in.

3. Choose Your Inner Circle Wisely: You're the average of the five people you spend the most time with. Make sure they are uplifting caring people who have your best interests at heart and not energy vampires sucking the life out of you. There are a lot of those out there and you don't want them in your circle.

4. Good Food = Good Mood: It really is that simple. I do have a sweet tooth and never deny myself but I do try to eat healthy 80% of the time. (Most of the time!)

5. Exercise: Whether it's a quick walk, jog or a 30 minute class, exercise is a massive stress release and also helps clear the mind.

6. Meditation: I try meditate every night before I go to bed and am a huge advocate for this ancient practice. If I've meditated at bed time I usually wake up feeling much more calm, relaxed and motivated.

7. Me Time: Take time out to do something you enjoy. Maybe you love reading, visiting your friends, or watching a great show on Netflix. A facial is my go to treat. Do what makes you happy!

8. Be Your Own Best Friend: Do what you want to do. Your time here is precious. Use it wisely. If you want to get your nails done every three weeks or a blow dry every Saturday than do it! Don't heed those people - you know the ones: 'Well isn't it nice for some?"

9. Try Not To Take Things Personally: Other peoples opinions are none of your business. It says more about them than it does about you.

10: Gratitude: Each night write down three things you did well that day and three things you are grateful for. Try it for two weeks and see how you get on!

It really is an inside out world.
Hope you all have a great weekend. I'm off to Belmullet for Queen Lally's and Adrian's wedding!!!!

Love,
M
